EXCLUSIVE: A message from Johnny Ertl: I will never forget Crystal Palace
FYP still can’t quite believe Johnny Ertl has gone to Sheffield United, but in a bid to ease the pain, the Austrian Ambassador has sent us a few words to pass on to Palace fans. Enjoy.
I just want to say thank you for the support during my time at Palace. I will never forget what we have achieved as a team last season and it has been definitely the best time in my football career staying up in the Championship. But now it’s time to move on.
As a football player things are changing very quickly and football itself is very highlighted nowadays. You are just as good as your last game and you have got to perform well. I like the challenge and I want to achieve the goal I set myself of getting promoted in the Premier League.
I hope I played my part in helping the club to survive. Players coming and players leave and football is a funny old game. As you could see at the last game at Hillsborough we were a strong bond and every one of us cares about the club. I am going to keep all the good memories of my time at Palace, because I have met so many nice people. And I know whenever I come back to Selhurst Park, or to the area were I used to live, I am will go and say hello to my friends.
I am keeping my fingers crossed for the future of Palace, that everything is sorted out and they can become the club again it used to be – with stability and a good ownership.
Thank you very much for a wonderful time at SE25. The fans are brilliant.
